Michael Meyer

Michael Meyer’s passion for art began at a young age, with an early focus on portraiture. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Art Education from Southeast Missouri State University and went on to work in commercial art, including roles as an art director and illustrator for magazines, Hallmark, and advertising agencies.

While building a successful career in publishing management in the Chicago area, Meyer continued to develop his painting, studying portraiture with renowned artist Richard Halstead and painting with the Plein Air Painters of Chicago.

In 2010, Meyer and his wife relocated to New Mexico, allowing him to fully dedicate himself to his artistic practice. Over the past decade, he has earned numerous awards in juried exhibitions, including Best of Show and multiple People’s Choice honors.

Now based in Tijeras, New Mexico, Meyer continues to paint regularly, drawing inspiration from the landscape and striving to create work with increasing depth, impact, and expression.
