Lydia Gatzow

Lydia Gatzow is a contemporary impressionistic landscape oil painter originally from Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin. She earned her BFA in Painting from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, in 2015, with minors in Art History and Ceramics, and has exhibited in juried group shows across the United States.

Gatzow primarily paints outdoors on location, drawing direct inspiration from nature. Her plein air practice informs her studio work and reflects her fascination with light, atmosphere, and the spiritual presence found in wilderness landscapes. After traveling across North America in a 1982 VW bus, she settled in Sedona, Arizona in 2019, where she now lives and paints.

Her work is influenced by artists such as Georgia O’Keeffe, Claude Monet, the California Impressionists, and the Hudson River School painters.
